‘Independent Living’ will equip participants with practical skills needed for successful independent living and self-sufficiency.
The course consists of 9 sessions and features interactive and engaging activities, making it ideal for ages 14-18, although it can easily be adapted for other age groups. Flexible delivery options are available to accommodate different settings.

- Decision-Making: How to make informed decisions and handle changing situations positively.
- Financial Independence: Where to start financially when setting up a home, managing money, and prioritising expenses.
- Budgeting and Wise Spending: How to shop wisely, what to buy, and where to shop for food.
- Self-Care: The importance of maintaining personal well-being and looking after yourself.
- Home Maintenance: How to look after your home, stay safe, and handle situations when something breaks.
- Community Involvement: Why and how to get involved with your community, and the importance of having support.
- Support Systems: Identifying areas where support might be needed and where to find it.
What’s included:
myLife Tutor Training is included in the course price. It’s there to help you feel confident delivering the sessions and to make sure your young people get the most out of them. The training is done online via video call and is required for anyone running a myLife course. Once you’ve bought a course, a member of our team will get in touch to book your training at a time that works for you.
As well as training, you will also receive one printed session guide for the tutor, along with 10 printed resource books and 10 printed progress trackers – everything you need to run the course with 10 young people.
